New Name Same Mission

Well we did it, we changed our business name from Southern Farmhouse Designs to Moore House Interiors. The change became official on Tuesday and if you are an Instagram follower, I’m sure you saw my live video announcing the change & watched me ugly cry tears of joy.

This change has been a long time coming. I’ve been praying about a name change for over a year, but wasn’t sure it was the right thing to do, so when in doubt, I turn to God because He seems to have it all figured out. :)

What led to this change? A lot actually. When I first started this business, I was dead set on only designing farmhouse spaces, mainly because that was the only style I was confident in. Remember, I’m a former teacher, with no formal design training, so sticking to what I loved & knew I could do was a no brainer. I was playing it safe. Over the past 3 years, I’ve learned a ton about design & different styles, and much to my surprise people were hiring us to do design styles outside of the farmhouse realm…and I LOVED IT! Each spaced push me out of my comfort zone & made me think outside the box. They also allowed me to put my twist on these modern & transitional spaces. There were other clients who reached out and wanted a little of the farmhouse look, but didn’t want to go overboard with it…just a touch here & there. I’ve learned that when clients tell me this, it means they want that cozy, homey feel that we can create with a few antique pieces & lots of textures, but it doesn’t have to be shiplap everywhere & cluttered builtins full of knick knacks. To make a long story short, I feel like I found my signature look & learned that I could incorporate that look into any style of home that we work on.

After our weekend at The Vintage Round Top Branding & Social Media Workshop a few weeks ago, God made this name change decision super clear to me (and let’s not forget to mention the fact that Larson & I both came back with the thoughts of a name change, just another way God said yes, this is what He wants me to do). I want a business that is timeless, that can change & evolve over the years, with each client and each style we create, and I want our business name to reflect that. So when Larson & I came back from our workshop & both had the same note of a name change, I knew this was the next step.

Am I sad to see Southern Farmhouse Designs go? It’s bittersweet, honestly. This was the name that started it all for my business. SFD has been my third child for the past three years, so I’m sad to see it go, but I’ve never been more at peace & excited about the future with Moore House Interiors.

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, since the beginning of starting this business, I let God lead me in this journey. I’ve prayed over ever decision asking Him to lead me where He wants me and this business to be, for wisdom in making big decisions, to be a blessing to our community & those we serve, and to take my dreams & make them line up with His will for me. Yall, He has taken this small dream of helping people create homes they love & allowed us to serve over one hundred clients in the past three years, to be apart of some amazing non-profits that are doing big things in the city of Houston, and orchestrated some of the sweetest friendships through this business. Not only all of that, but He has provided me with a team of two amazingly talented ladies, who I didn’t even know I needed until I met them. So, as sad as I am to see Southern Farmhouse go, I couldn’t be more excited about what is ahead for Moore House Interiors & our team.

The name change isn’t the only big announcement we have been keeping under wraps (we’ve got another BIG surprise coming soon), God just keeps doing His thing & opens doors & has placed an even bigger dream on my heart. And being on this side of the business, watching this dream unfold, seeing it come together in His time, is such a humbling thing. All of this is such a great reminder to me that He loves & cares for every aspect of our lives & if we fully trust Him, He will orchestrate a story that we couldn’t ever dream up on our own.

What’s next? Well the future is looking brighter than ever. We do have a lot of fun things coming for 2019, but we plan on finishing the year working with our amazing clients. Our mission, as always, is to create well-loved, intentional spaces for the way our clients live. We will be offering the same services in 2019, but our design process will be changing a little bit. Other than those changes, everything else will remain the same, until we can officially announce our other secret. Make sure you’re following us on Facebook, Instagram, Houzz and Pinterest so you don’t miss our next big announcement!

I can’t say it enough, but thank you so much for your love, support, prayers & cheerleading as we continue this journey under a new name!

Ashley
