Breaking Down Our Processes

Hiring a designer can feel exciting and nerve-wracking! Our goal here at Moore House Interiors is to make our processes as crystal clear for you as we can, that way your experience with us is fun, not frustrating! The last thing we want is for you to feel overwhelmed or confused during your time with us and we’ve found that explaining our systems from day one can prevent confusion. It’s important that any designer you choose to work with explains how they operate and why. You want this person to be a fit for you, and knowing what your experience with them will look like can help you determine if a designer is a match for you and your project!

Step 1: Did you know that we start all of our projects with a FREE Discovery Phone Call? As soon as you submit an inquiry, we schedule a call with you to chat about your project, what you need help with and get to know you a little bit better. This also allows you to get to know us! If we feel like we're a fit for each other, next step is scheduling an in-person consultation!

Step 2: During our in-person consultation, we’ll invite you to our new studio in Tomball, Texas to walk through your project, your floor plans, design ideas and inspiration and talk about your visions for your home. If you’re hiring us for furnishings only, we will meet in your home for the consultation. Following our consultation, we'll put together a proposal of services for your review that’s based on your project. If everything feels good and you’re ready to say “yes” to working with us, you'll sign our design agreement in our studio and will officially become part of the MHI family! From there, we’ll begin your design work and schedule any necessary site visits with your contractor, our trades or your builder.

Step 3: Then it's time to bring the vision to life! If you're building, we get all your selections and renderings to your builder and prepare for the next few months of construction. We're here to walk with you throughout the entire construction process of your home! We are there to do it all: job-site meetings, cabinet drawings, tile layouts, communicating with your project manager and builder and, of course, design selections plus so much more. Building can be overwhelming and we’re there to help you through it and advocate for you throughout the process. If you want to work with us on new furniture for your new home, we discuss that phase around framing.

If we're doing furniture for your current home, we manage and oversee the ordering of all your furnishings. Did you know that furniture items take anywhere between 4-8 weeks to ship on average? We keep track of all the pieces you order through us (on top of managing the actual ordering, tracking, receiving, any returns and communication with vendors) and have them come to our receiving warehouse where we hold everything until our installation day. Why a receiving warehouse? We purchase furniture directly from the manufacturer & they ship via freight trucks. These trucks typically only deliver to receiving warehouses. Our warehouse unboxes, inspects & puts together all of your furniture for your big day! We couldn't do our jobs without them!

Step 4: The last part of our process is installation day! This is when we bring all your furniture to your house and style it just as we envisioned. We give you your own HGTV-style "reveal day" and welcome you into your newly decorated home! This is normally a full day or a couple of full days depending on your project. We are working non-stop to create the perfect space for your home. The reveal day is absolutely the best part of the process; seeing our client's expressions and emotions as they walk through the door makes US emotional! ⁣It's truly a gift to our team to be asked to work with you in turning your house into a home.

This might feel like a long process, but we promise it's worth it to do it right! Setting realistic time frames, budgets and goals upfront will make the process smooth and enjoyable for all parties involved. No matter who you choose to help you design your home, we highly recommend that you ask what their processes are and learn as much as you can about their operation! This designer is not only going to be someone you want to click with personally, but they’re also someone you are choosing to invest time and money in and you want to have a great experience with them. Our advice is to always do your homework when choosing a designer! This goes for home builders too! If you need some advice on how to choose a custom home builder, check out our Building Series.
