Mudroom Revamp

Sometimes I get in a creative momentum and just can stop myself, even in my own home! Our home's mudroom found itself in the path of my renovation tornado when we remodeled a few years ago. With two young children, a hard-working husband and this mama being on the go 24/7, my family desperately needed a function mudroom space. I wanted a spot where the kids could hang their backpacks (so I wasn’t tripping over them) and jackets, we could have extra socks and seasonal gear stored for easy access, I had a dedicated purse spot, my husband could keep his coats handy and we could all find a spot for our shoes other than the middle of the floor!

I knew I could do this project with minimal cost but maximum impact. Redoing the mudroom consisted of tearing down the old built-ins and creating my own, plus I wanted to add some good ol' shiplap! I had collaborated with our trim carpenter on a design for the built-ins that would work best for our family while optimizing the space we had to work with. Each member of our family is able to have their own cubby and we didn’t need a ton of room to make that happen. We even created a built-in kennel for our sweet pup Rebel, although he’s only used his new space once or twice! From floor to ceiling, we utilized the space to the best of our abilities and were able to create a mudroom space that my family and I now love and use every day.
