Coverings 2021 Recap

If you’ve been following us lately, you know that the Moore House Interiors team has been on the road this summer! From sunny Orlando to the Austin Hill Country, we’ve been racking up the travel miles. Today, Ashley is sharing her recap of Coverings Global Stone & Tile Expo that she attended early this month and the newest stone and tile trends you can expect to see in the design world!

I was beyond honored to be invited to Coverings as an influencer for the show! I was in the company of other influencers and home industry journalist & we had a blast together.

Coverings is North America’s largest stone and tile expo with over 9 miles of stone and tile to explore. This year’s show was in Orlando, Florida and people from all over the world attend the show. The show is free to the public which I think is so cool; there’s so much to see and the fact that you can tour everything for free makes it accessible for everyone. During our time at Coverings, we did walking tours of Ceramics of Italy, Tile of Spain and Tile Council of North America.

Let’s talk trends & what you can expect to see for the remainder of the year & I think for many years to come.

  • XXL tiles are in. The bigger the better. Using larger format tiles create a look of one solid piece of stone. Tile that resembles marble, quartzite, and onyx were all over the showroom floors. They are all breathtakingly beautiful & mimic natural stone so perfectly. Can you image a master bathroom covered in this beautiful material? What a classic, yet bold statement.

  • Green is the new navy! From kelly green to emerald green to teal, green is the new go-to color & I’m not mad about it. Along with green we saw a lot of pastels and deep reds & rust colors. Taking a classic shaped tile with a color is just a fun way to add interest into your space.

  • Biophilia is really emerging in tile. Everyone is wanting to bring the outside in. Tiles that mimic outdoor elements are a great way to bring those natural elements in that are practical & easy to clean.

  • We also saw a lot of tile that looks like wallpaper. Many vendors are able to print your own images onto the tile to create a very custom tile.

These are just a few snippets from our time at Coverings! I wish I had sources for all this beautiful tile but unfortunately I don’t. If you have any questions you can message us or comment below! A huge thank you to Coverings for inviting us and hosting us. It was a great trip and I’m so thankful for the experience!
